About Andrew

Award Winning Wildlife Photographer

Andrew Macdonald is an award-winning wildlife photographer from Scotland, based in Cape Town. He hosts photographic safaris across Africa and holds professional safari guiding qualifications, allowing him to guide guests safely and confidently in the field.

Drawing on nearly a decade of experience in some of Africa’s most remote wilderness areas, Andrew uses a deep understanding of animal behaviour to anticipate action and position guests in the right place at the right time.

With a strong focus on light, photography and behaviour in the field, he helps photographers of all levels come away with stronger images and a deeper understanding of wildlife photography.

A Glimpse Into Moments That Have Moved Me

This gallery is a collection of encounters that stopped me in my tracks, quiet exchanges, raw power, and fleeting beauty found only in the wild.

Each image tells a story.

Not just of the animals, but of the stillness, patience, and connection it took to be there, to witness, not interrupt.

These aren’t just photographs; they’re pieces of my heart, captured in the untamed wilds of Africa.
